Venue Style Sheet

Theme / Mood: For the National Convention: Horror, Mystery

Dreams and visions begin to suggest a great force will awaken. To make matters worse, someone has begun to abduct the allies and family of the Forsaken. As the Forsaken seek to discover the answer, they may find that the matter is far more complicated then they would like and far more dangerous than they would fear.

Reason for the Gathering of PCs:
Dreams and visions begin to suggest that something powerful is about to be awakened and the sudden abduction of those closest to the Forsaken adds to the alarm. The Forsaken are lead to a shadow of a town long vanished where a wound festers and a being of great power waits for death to awaken it.

In the games leading up to CAiNE, the Forsaken will receive increasingly disturbing evidence that something big is coming. The insight of the Cahalith, among other clues, will lead the Forsaken to the site where the creature is expected to rise.

Setting/Time: Trois-Riviere, QU -- March 2010 -- exact time and dates TBD.
The group will gather near the site of the old mining town of Gagnon, QU. They will have been lead there – by dreams, visions or spirits. What they find there, however, will be far more unsettling than what they might expect…

Supplementary Style Information:
* Make sure at character check in to bring all character records required, in addition to any special approvals granted by the Lead Venue Storyteller for the event. Have all info such as Fetishes, Items etc, ready at sign in as well. Designated narrators will be available for character sign-in one hour prior to the beginning of game.
* The following must be approved by the ANST prior to the National convention. Please email to forsaken.anst@gmail.com. The ANST is not responsible for emails that are received within 5 days prior to the convention or misplaced emails due to computer errors. Please be sure to send your requests in plenty of time:
#1: Any High or Top Approvals
#2: Any Cross-Venue PCs or Items
#3: Any instruments of mass destruction
* Characters with flaws and disadvantages involving appearance must costume appropriately to demonstrate these features at all national events. If costuming is not available, please ensure that the description of character's unusual appearance is visibly written and attached to the character.
* Travel Risks: Specifically for CaiNE, travellers will be required to first inform their local ST on how their character is planning on travelling to the event. The setting for the game will be in Quebec. Characters should have little difficulty in making the journey unless travel is done through the Umbra.

On-Site vs. Off-Site:
Players who are on the physical location of the gamesite yet "off-site" in terms of play represent a breakdown in the continuity of the game and will be limited as much as possible. In some cases participating in these events may limit your ability to participate in the regular venue.

Challenges:
Moderate -- Role-playing and drama emphasized over rules and challenges. We may abbreviate challenges (such as in a large combat) as required. This will be done only in the interests of speeding up the game and/or enhancing critical role-playing. In any circumstances where a character's life is on the line, the full rules will be used, regardless of the desire to speed up the game, unless the player waives this clause.
In the interest of time and roleplay, should large scale combat erupt, the storyteller reserves the right to narrate the scene in its entirety. Again, should a character's life be on the line, the full rules will be used unless the player waives this right.
Players are asked to refrain from debating rules calls made by the storytelling staff. Rules decisions made by the Lead Venue Storyteller are considered final. Further argument may result in the player’s removal from the game, at which point control of their character is forfeited to the Lead Venue Storyteller for the remainder of the game.
Challenges against extremely high (Rank 6+) spirits may be narrated as these characters exhibit powers beyond what PCs can normally handle on their own.
Should combat erupt between two characters or a small group of characters, the combat scene may be resolved in its own separate time bubble in order to prevent the disruption of play for other players.
During mass combat or large scene it is requested that players keep out of character chatter to a minimum in order to expedite the scene and to ensure that everyone can hear what is going on. If a player is being repeatedly disruptive, he may be asked to leave. Appeals to any circumstances such as these will be accepted via email until April 15, 2010 by emailing the Lead Venue Storyteller and the Narrator or Lead Storyteller who made that ruling.
The above regulations are put in place in order to ensure a smooth running game so that players may get the most fun and role playing out of the evening and minimize lengthy challenges that break the flow of the game and may lead to a break in character. The intention here is not to be strict, but to keep things flowing and as enjoyable as possible.

Character Proxies:
Proxies will not be allowed at this event; except in extreme circumstances where it supports the Plot of this event; this will be subject to extreme approval scrutiny. For purposes of player interest, players who wish to have news sent back to them regarding the events of the gathering (through a spirit messenger, for example), please notify the ANST prior to the National convention. This event will carry plot points that will lead the story into ICC. As such, attempts will be made to keep players unable to attend the event informed.
